How to Enter

Entrants are required to submit an application form and a written submission for each category entered. Each category has a number of specific judging criteria that are explained within each relevant category.

Entries may be submitted by individual applicants or organisations (see Who can enter for specific information on each category’s entry requirements). Another party may also nominate individuals or organisations for an award.

Important:  All Criteria MUST be answered to have your entry considered by the judges

Applications can be made online or by downloading the application form and submitting it by mail or in person.

Step-by-step guide to entering the Awards:

  1. Read through the categories and decide which one your safety initiative is most suited to. You may decide to enter more than one category.
  2. Complete an Application Form for each category entered.
  3. The Application Form must be accompanied by supporting documentation prepared by the applicant and address all selection criteria relating to the Award category being entered.
  4. To have your entry considered by the judges you must address every criterion. Keep your responses brief and to the point – approximately one page per criterion should be sufficient.
  5. For information on how entries are assessed, please see WorkCover NSW Safe Work Awards 2008: Judging process.
  6. Prepare a summary of your safety initiative and company profile and include it at the front of your submission. Each summary should be between 200 and 300 words. The information will be used on the WorkCover website if you are a finalist or winner to promote your initiative or innovation.
  7. Include with your entry any other supporting information that you think might help the judges to better understand your initiative.   Refer to the checklist at the end of your application process.
  8. For example, a workplace safety manual you’ve developed or, photographs of initiatives. You may supply photos as prints or as digital photos. If you choose to supply photos digitally, there must be four separate copies either on floppy disks, CD ROMs in high resolution (300dpi) format, or by using the online entry form.
  9. Provide four copies of your submission (all unbound A4 format), unless using the online entry form.
  10. Include with your entry a reproduction quality copy of your company logo (if an organisation or business). Ideally, logos should be provided as high resolution files on floppy disk, CD ROM, or by using the online entry form.
  11. Submit online, mail or deliver four copies of your completed submission and entry form, not forgetting four separate copies of photos, any other supporting information and one high resolution logo by 5pm Friday 11 July 2008.
